How many sheets of drywall do I need?
Multiply the room perimeter by the wall height for wall area, add the ceiling if you're boarding it, add about 10% for waste and cuts, then divide by the coverage of your sheet size (32 ft² for 4×8, 48 ft² for 4×12) and round up.

Which sheet size should I use?
4×8 sheets are easier to carry and handle; 4×12 sheets mean fewer seams to tape on tall or large walls. Both are 1/2 inch thick for most interior walls.
Do I subtract doors and windows?
For a simple estimate the 10% waste covers small openings. For big openings, subtract their area from the wall total.
